An administrative council, known as the Board, oversees day-to-day operations, project management, and other activities to turn community ideas into reality.

ApeCoin functions as the ecosystem’s governance token, granting holders voting rights in the DAO and serving as a shared currency for various applications. ApeCoin’s Origins and NFT Ties

The creation of ApeCoin was inspired by Yuga Labs’ Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) project. Yuga Labs gifted a 1-of-1 NFT to the APE Foundation, transferring all rights and privileges of the NFT and its artwork. This intellectual property is now managed by ApeCoin DAO members, who vote on its use. This connection to BAYC emphasizes ApeCoin’s role as a cultural and economic hub within the Web3 space.

Token Supply and Distribution

ApeCoin’s total supply is permanently fixed at 1 billion tokens, all minted at launch. On March 17, 2022, 30.25% of tokens entered circulation, with the remainder distributed at regular intervals over 48 months. This dynamic supply model ensures gradual distribution while allowing market factors to influence circulation. With 62% of ApeCoin allocated to the Ecosystem Fund, the community has substantial resources to drive initiatives and fuel growth within the APE Ecosystem.
